Role
We're looking for a Level Designer to help build the exploration and investigation experience at the heart of Woodside. You'll work closely with the Design Lead to create engaging game levels, environmental puzzles, player progression, and moments of discovery that feel rewarding and naturally encourage exploration.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys exploration-focused gameplay and creating spaces that are both memorable and meaningful to navigate.
Responsibilities
You'll work collaboratively to:
- Design level layouts that support exploration, pacing, and tension.
- Create clues that feel satisfying to uncover, support player discovery, and reinforce player agency.
- Plan how players progress through environments and overcome obstacles.
- Design environmental puzzles that feel satisfying and naturally fit the world.
- Collaborate with the team to iterate on ideas through feedback and playtesting.
- Produce clear design documentation to communicate your ideas.
We're looking for someone who
- Has a passion for level design and creating engaging player experiences.
- Enjoys designing exploration-focused gameplay and environmental puzzles.
- Understands how level layout, pacing, and player guidance influence the overall experience.
- Can communicate ideas clearly through documentation, sketches, diagrams, or blockouts.
- Works well collaboratively and enjoys giving and receiving feedback.
- Comfortable working remotely in a small team.
- Has an interest in horror, mystery, or narrative-driven games.
(Experience with Unreal Engine is welcome but not essential if your primary strength is design.)
What We Offer
- Revenue-share model, rewarding your contribution to the project’s success.
- Fully remote studio.
- Part-time role. We suggest a minimum of 6 hours/week to keep momentum, but this can adapt around other commitments.
- Flexible working hours, focused on delivering high-quality work rather than strict schedules.
- Opportunity to work on a unique, story-driven indie horror title and leave your mark on its systems.
- Transparent approach to revenue share.
- Clear process for milestone approval and contribution recognition.
- Mechanisms in place to adjust for future funding or growth, keeping your role fair as the project evolves.
We believe that diversity and inclusion are important for creating a welcoming and innovative work environment. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all team members and creating a team environment that celebrates diversity. If you are a skilled Level Designer and are excited to work on Woodside, we encourage you to apply for this position.
